Scotland Continued.
>Jess: woah thank you! you're making me excited :D
we'll have ~5.5 days there... not a lot. i guess i'll love the countryside... will try to arrange as much of that as possible :D
i'll have quite a bit of time in england too before that... almost a week in london, 2 or more days in wales, and then the rest all over england. haven't really planned yet though, just got hold of a travel guide :P anything else to recommend?
haha i have no idea how to get to stonehenge though... the national express buses have strange schedules which won't work for me, so most prob won't go :P
Go to the UK to do PhD!!!! I'm seriously thinking about that :D Now have to work super hard though :P
Anyway which lab will you be in for your 1 year attachment? I should start work 25 June in CMM, not confirmed yet though...
>Tk: woah shiok la. actually canada also got tulips i think :D
When will you be going then? Enjoy man :P May is the most fantastic season...
And how come wanna go Finland?!

other places in uk? hmmms. Bath was a really pretty place to go to.
Go to cambridge! and drink in the eagle bar (it was like making a pilgrimage to the shrine of modern biology), where the structure of DNA was first announced to the world by watson and crick. haha.
oxford! can go to the college where CS lewis taught math in. I think they also used the school to film the harry potter films. haha. just a note.
Canterbury was a very cute little village outside london. If you read chaucer, its, well, very entertaining to go to. haha.
stonehenge can be accessed from town of salisbury. you have to take a local bus to the site. I heard that there are other better and prettier standing stones in the country.
aiyah. just stay in scotland and hike around. its awesome. ohoh. my friend actually rented bicycles and biked around the countryside. so you can think about that too. haha. dun really know how that works.
oh and i'm in the Zhang Lian Hui lab in IMCB. starting work on june 11. hoho. quorum sensing! woot!
and yes! am onsidering cambridge and imperial for phD. muahahha!
You're in ZLH lab!!! Hahaha good choice. I used to work there a few years back over Dec hols :P Haha my lab last year is on the same row as his! ZLH's lab is the furthest from the elevator while mine (VY) is the closest. I used to go there to use their electroporation machine :D
He is a very nice guy, his lab usually empties pretty early, but I don't think he remembers me. His english is a bit difficult to understand though :P and just that his theme doesn't really interest me :P
haha UK PhD... yeah for the sake of shorter time, European spring, the possibility of going back to the US to do post-doc, and easier to go home also :P
Hahaha thanks for the information :D I just can't wait for the term to end...
Hahaha btw, i think you should know stories about VY lab right :P I don't believe Si Hui didn't tell you...
--> XY: haha. yeah. am pretty excited about the ZLH lab, cos theyre doing stuff that i'm interested in. and also cos, they're nearly the only purely bacteriology lab in most of biopolis. so sad! why ppl dun like bacteria :(
--> tk: finland sounds cool sia... butbut you should aim to go to stockholm if you are gg to the scandinavian countries! cos Play! is having their concerts there in early june. hoho. :P
>Jess: Haha i'm more a molecular signalling person :P development and cancer... but a lot of competition :P
>Tk: hahaha come and visit me la. Will be around from 4/5 to 10/5, and then 16/5 to 26/5... but warn you first: nothing much to do here one hor. Bring your DOTA along to entertain yourself :P
And yeah I'll likely to have a friend staying in my apartment after the 11th, so it's a better idea to come before the 11th, if you have to squeeze :P
change of plans, air tics too expensive, prob going to canada, got promotions for ottawa n montreal i think
